HOW IT STARTED

Allen

As Dr. Allen Skinner was completing his residency at Southern California Veterinary Dental Specialties, he noticed how uncomfortable it was to operate and perform procedures on regular wet tables. He was forced to sit side-saddle or spread-eagle for hours on end. Allen also recognized that the grate of a wet table does not hold the patient’s heat well while under anesthesia, and typically does not fit larger dogs or animals.

He decided there had to be a better type of table. Luckily he loves to build things in his spare time, so Allen got to work and designed the Conversion Table that is the foundation of our Wet Table Conversion System. Allevo Veterinary Solutions came into existence with the sole purpose of making better care possible.

MORE ABOUT ALLEN

He doesn’t like talking about himself so it’s a good thing he’s not writing this.

Dr. Allen Skinner grew up in rural Southeastern Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the College of Wooster where he also played collegiate football. Dr. Skinner’s interest in veterinary medicine began at an early age, but only after spending a summer after his undergraduate studies working as a conservation biology researcher in North Dakota did he returned to Ohio to pursue veterinary medicine.

Once back in Ohio, he volunteered at a local mixed animal practice in his hometown.  Soon afterwards he moved to Columbus, OH to finish the courses needed for veterinary school. While taking classes Dr. Skinner gained practical veterinary knowledge while working as a veterinary assistant.

Dr. Skinner earned his doctorate of veterinary medicine (DVM) from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After completing his clinical year at Louisiana State University (LSU), he moved to San Diego to complete his rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH).

Following his rotating internship, Dr. Skinner completed his residency at Southern California Veterinary Dental Specialties and is now a Diplomat of the American Veterinary Dental College. His interests include oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and correction of congenital malformations.  He also enjoys helping other veterinarians and veterinary staff improve their veterinary dental skills and learn the benefits of good dental care.
